OhioLaw.org is a free legal-information and referral resource, not a law firm. It helps you find nonprofit legal-aid programs, court resources, self-help information, and other sources of assistance.
How do I find the legal-aid program for my Ohio county?
Use the Ohio County directory or Legal Aid Directory on OhioLaw.org. Each county page identifies the primary regional civil legal-aid provider serving that county and links to statewide resources.
Is legal aid always free?
Civil legal-aid organizations generally provide qualifying services without charging eligible clients, but each program decides eligibility, priorities, and whether it can accept a matter.
What if I have a criminal case?
People charged with crimes may have a right to appointed counsel if they qualify. Contact the court handling the case or the local public defender system. Civil legal-aid programs generally do not handle criminal defense.
What if I have an urgent deadline?
Do not wait for a website response. Check the court notice and current rules immediately and contact the court, legal aid, a public defender when applicable, or a currently licensed attorney.
